Coffee Break

Many years ago before Cairenes went totally overboard over lattes, there was a nice family owned Italian style coffee shop on Road 9 in Maadi. Cafe Greco was an instant success among the expats and soon was filled with both local and foreign residents. For my money, it's still the best coffee in Cairo, despite Starbucks, Cilantro, Beano's and any number of other competitors.

  3. I couldn't agree with you more - it was a revelation when it opened, and even through a change of ownership the ethos and quality of the service and the coffee have remained consistently great.

    I love Greco.

  6. Very interesting image, converting it to a painting has given it a different edge, but I like it

  7. Ahhhh, so nice over there! Much better option than Costa's and Cillantro's, a bit further up on the street :)
Missed it! Hope Cairo and its challenges are treating you well!

  10. Enjoy reading blogs from people in other countries. You obviously are well educated and a good writer. I, too, am about your age, female, not fond of Starbucks Coffee (I think mine is better) and spend a great deal of time taking care of my home. Perhaps you'd like to read my blog: BlogggerOne@blogspot.com.

  11. Interesting, just for the record, how much in Aussie dollars is a good cup of coffee in this cafe. Enjoyed looking at your photos. Nice work.
