Some of the tourist police and their camels take a break in the afternoon in the shadow of the Bent Pyramid at Dahshur. This pyramid is interesting for its sort of squashed shape (the builders used too steep an angle initially and then had to lower it) and for the fact that it is one of the only pyramids that still has its facing stones.
The men look so small against the huge stones. What a great picture, especially when enlarged!
ReplyDeleteMen and camels both resting in the shade of the pyramid. Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI never have thought about the ancient engineers sort of making it up as they went along - but they must have, just to learn what was possible... Nice photo with the side of the pyramid looking like a natural cliff with strangely regular rocks.
