Waiting Out the Rain

On a wet afternoon in Cairo a group of men play dominoes at a coffee shop while waiting for a shower to stop. Visitors sometimes wonder what is smoked in the waterpipes at the coffee shops, but as a rule it is a fruit flavoured or honey flavoured tobacco.

Hi thanks for visiting ma site. Does the flavor in tobacco lessen the risk in one's health? One can only do this things while waiting for the rain to stop...Have a nice day!

Unfortunately, the sheesha's (water pipes) are if anything worse for one's health than cigarettes. Despite the smoke being drawn through water, there is plenty of gunk left for the mouth and lungs to deal with, and then there is the issue of the communal nature of water pipes being perfectly suited to the transmission of disease. Most coffee shops fit plastic mouthpieces to the sheeshas, which are discarded after use.
