Fried What?

When I was in New York visiting my kids I went to a street fair and bought a deep-fried Oreo, which was pretty horrifying. I'm not a big fried food fan. So today when I was presented with a plate of fried boiled eggs, I was taken a bit aback. But they were pretty good, mostly because they were my lovely fresh eggs.

Well...they certainly look interesting. I'm a bit skeptical, but heck, I'd give them a try!

Hmmm, I never know that this type of cooking also found in Cairo 'cos In Indonesia, we also boil the eggs and fry them, then later on mixed with Chilli paste. Simple but quite tasty. Coincidence? or is it an influence from many Indonesian community there?

Thanks for sharing!

As this was prepared for me by my village housekeeper who has never been out of our area, I suspect that this is a local dish. I like the idea of the chili paste.

We used to have the fried (boiled) eggs when we break our fast on Christmas Eve (around midnight) and again on Easter Eve (around midnight).

One or two of these (boiled then fried) eggs was the first thing we would eat as we break the 40 & 50-day Vegan fast before Christmas and Easter.
