Cool Water
Water is important in a desert country and many merchants or homeowners install one of these water coolers so that people passing by can have a drink. The only problem is that it is city water and as such possibly contaminated from old water pipes.
Yaani, the water is free? That's nice. Instead of the old village sabil? And everyone drinks from the same cup? Nice tree. Nice man. What are "blinders" on the sign behind him? Sorry, too many questions for your typing hand. Rest well.
Water is free just like the old sabil. Everyone does drink from the same cup. The man was nice and laughed after I took my photo...but what "blinders"?
Oh, BLINDS! I'd almost forgotten that word. And I need it! To translate "trissim," the system we have here (except here they are outside the window and the screen). Thanks Vincent.

ReplyDeleteWater will be more and more a global issue! Yikes!
ReplyDeleteI think Dina is referring to the sign in the background talking about what they repair. I think it means "blinds" as in, for the window.
ReplyDeleteI use to be a venitian blinds repairman.
I was going to ask the same question.... what are Blinders and how oftwen do they need to be repaired????
ReplyDeleteInteresting post. Hope the recovery is going well.

I was born and raised in Cairo. I lived 12 years in Zamalek and 7 in Maadi.
ReplyDeleteI have been living in Oklahoma for the last 39-years.
I think "blinders" is a typical spelling problem. I believe the sign meant to say that they repair "blenders" and toasters etc.
Great blog. I'm addicted
