Not Fisher Price

My housekeeper's son is figuring out walking but he wants to move faster than he can reasonably do so on his own. One of the villagers took some old nails and scrap wood and made this tricycle walker for him that he pushes around the garden. He still falls over but it's sort of slow motion.

When Was The Last Time You Saw One Of These?

When I was a kid my father kept all his scraps of lumber in a huge box and we had access to hammers and nails. We built all sorts of things from battleships to float in a wading pool to forts and vehicles. One of the things that I truly appreciate living in the villages is the fact that kids here still build their toys most of the time. A swing may be constructed from a rope and a chunk of plywood tied to a tree. All sorts of wagons and carts abound. Great for the imagination.

One For You Merri!

Apologies to all my readers but a week ago I went into the hospital for a bilateral knee replacement and I'm not doing much photography yet. For that matter, I'm not doing much of anything really. This is a shot of my annual trip to FAO Schwartz with my daughter in New York earlier in June. For a while you'll be getting a weird random assortment of photos, but this one is special for Merri Melde of theequestrianvagabond.blogspot.com and her friend the Raven.
