We were invited for lunch with friends. We started out with nuts and a beer in the sun on the patio by the pool, gradually shedding jackets as the day warmed up, but then it began to darken as the clouds gathered from the north. Rain began to fall, pushing us under the shelter of the roof for a few minutes. After about half an hour the rain stopped but the water on the patio reflected the trees and the black clouds in the sky promised more of the same.

ahhh, how refreshed everything looks.
Such a beautiful photo!
Rain? In Egypt? I was in Egypt one year ago and our guide said that it had not rained in Luxor in eight years!!! But that is further south of you.
We get a bit of rain about once a year. Luxor and Aswan usually get dumped on at about 5 year intervals. Cairo gets more than us because of the cliffs along the city edge and Alexandria gets quite a lot of rain.
What I love about City Daily Photo: I visit your blog for the first time and I recognize the other commenters!
I heard that internet connections are cut in Egypt, and thought I'd see if we have a CDP rep in Cairo. Sure enough, though it looks like you haven't posted in a few days. I hope you're safe and that you'll have your internet connection again soon.
Maryanne, I often look at your wonderful photos and read your delightful observations on life in Egypt. I've been watching hours of coverage on the protests there and just thought of you. I hope that you and your friends and family are safe.
I'm not sure if your internet has been turned on again but I hope everything is ok with you during this difficult time. I am a lurker enjoying your photos and comments.

Several people from the NRC Plus class group have been asking about you - we're hoping all is well and that you are a bit insulated in the countryside.

Please know we are thinking of you. Let us know how you are doing when you are able. Best wishes.
I visited Egypt for the first time when i was a teenager and returned with my family 3 months ago, and it everytime it was dry...it's amazing to think that sometimes it rains! Beautiful photo!
I have added your blog to my list of blogs to follow and am looking forward to read more about Egypt.
Best wishes. Deebee
This looks like Brooklyn, NY.
If you ask me, that water could be claimed as an urban fountain. You would fall right in line with the fountain theme.
Be safe and be blessed. Egypt's atmosphere changed completely today. I am praying for you all.
Peace
