If you are driving from Khan el Khalili to downtown, you see this extraordinary building to your right. Originally built by a Turkish born Austrian as a department store, it only served as such for about ten years until 1920 and since then has been floating in ownership limbo. It's a fascinating building!
It seems every great city, even some not so great, have one or more truly extraordinary buildings in limbo, somehow. A shame really when they could be enjoyed. From another continent, I want to wish you the greetings of the season. Tonight the children will be expecting Santa Claus and tomorrow we are cooking a goose and many trimmings.
