So soon along with your Turkish coffee you will be able to get Starbucks at the mall in Maadi. While changes like this make many expats happy....after all the international brands are just like home....not all of us are thrilled. One day will all the cities look alike and everyone will shop for the same things?

I agree with you. When I visit a new city I always try to go to local business and not the large Chane stores
Interesting picture. I keep forgetting that the logo is the same all over.

We can add it to the slew of franchises in Egypt...Chilis, Applebees, TGIFridays, A & W :)) Coffee shops is one thing that Egypt does so well....why mess with it? Now crappy Tex Mex is another story all together!
I'm jealous that you have Starbucks! Starbucks had a branch in Tel Aviv but it didn't last long. Pity.
Global economy!! At least this is a step up from KFC or MacDonalds!
It's taken me a while to get round to Cairo CDP, but I'm glad to have arrived. The Starbuck's mentality baffles me. We have 2 (!!!!!) here in Richmond upon Thames but fortunately the town is also chock full of fine independent places. I see little or no value in Starbucks (and haven't met anyone who cares for it). Can't imagine why Egypt would want it! Oh, dear. ;-)
