People often ask about the status of women in Egypt..and the question is complicated but there is a short answer. Unlike much of the world, the older a woman gets in Egypt, the more respect she is paid. So while things may be frustrating for young women, it does get better. The faces of these older women dancing at a village wedding show the strength that we see in women in Egypt...and also a joy in living.

Nice photo!
I know our culture are very similar due to the long history of Egypt and Iran. I think life in countries like Egypt, Iran and China still remains like the real "East Life" where social and family relationships still remains a top concern, older people are so respectful and so many other things which cannot be found in west countries.
In my own, I love a few countries in the world: Egypt, China and Greece in addition to Iran.
Egyptians do know how to have a good time!!
I think the answer to that question is the answer to a lot of questions, as you say, 'complicated'!
Thanks for sharing these lovely photographs and stories.
Thst id a really interesting viewpoint. I think in the west we often have certain priorities the wrong way round. The main woman in the pic looks so jolly as as you say obvioulsy respected.
