Old Friends

Two village elders sit together on a bench in front of a house painted with the Kaaba to show that someone inside traveled to Mecca on the haj.

Do you suppose the man in white is smiling because he's taken his shoes off?

Every village should have village elders. They look happy to be photographed by you. Did they approve of President Obama's speech?
Maryanne, did you welcome him to the Giza pyramids? :)

That would have been fun but quite impossible. The security for this visit has been totally insane. As it was, I had my American niece and four high school students arriving very late on Wed night and everyone was brain dead from almost 48 hours of travel from California to Egypt.

Yeah, probably like our super-security for the Pope's visit.

48 hours?? Did your niece come via China?? Have fun.
