A cattle egret stands watch as a water buffalo snoozes in the morning shade. The buffalo are an essential part of the rural economy providing milk products for the families, manure for fertilising the fields, and disposable income from the sale of the extra milk. Besides that, they are very sweet and rather extraordinary looking animals.

I guess it's hard work being a water buffalo?! A well deserved break in the shade!
Water buffalo is really the most important animal in Egypt and in the Egyptian rural household , I just stopped now to think that it had never been there in ancient Egypt , there were only cows , I made a search and found that water buffalo are really of Indian origins and it came to Egypt very late with the Arabian conquest of Egypt , strange I thought that the arabs never brought any thing good to Egypt , but history says they brought this with them
Cute picture and like the previous comment says "well-deserved break".
