The Old And The New

An elderly Egyptian gentleman enjoys a cup of tea and the autumn sunshine at Fishawy, my favourite coffee shop in Cairo, next to some young tourists. Fishawy has been the classic Cairo coffee shop for many decades and at one time he probably would meet his friends there for a tea, some conversation and time out.

A beautiful photograph and contrast between what is and what was. Nice. It looks like your blog has been spammed.

Thank you. And my apologies to people who will be bothered with moderation but it took almost an hour to remove all that trash.

Great shot of the old and new, side by side.
You wonder what the old gentleman is thinking.

Where is this coffee shop? Khan el-Khalili? My sister & I are coming to Cairo this winter and would like to visit this place.

Fishawy's is in Khan el Khalili and is a not to miss experience. A glass of lemon or mint tea and the chance to watch the world go by (and try to sell you fake Rolex watches...lots of fun) is marvelous
