Very typical. The villagers often build a ground floor for the main family (mom, dad and kids) and then add on floors for the sons when they marry and bring home wives.
I once had a neighbor who painted their house almost that same color, but I live in California. Needless to say the neighborhood was not so thrilled with their vibrant expression.
