The Edge


It's hard to imagine the knife edge of the desert and the green. It isn't a matter of foliage thinning or grasses becoming scanter. One step it's green and lush and in the next you are trudging through sand.

Wow! I never knew the break between vegetation and desert was so sudden, thanks! (Just like the break between "town" and "wheat fields" in the Montana city, where relatives live. One side is full of houses and yards and streets and shrubs on the meridians, while the other is of wheat fields for as far as the eye can see...so lovely.)
