Motorcycles are becoming more and more common here as life is more expensive and cars and gas move out of reach of many families. There isn't much point in worrying about safety when you see a family of four on a motorbike. At least the girls are wearing baseball caps to keep the sun off.
Harley Davidson and Cairo don't usually roll off the tongue together. After all, with our traffic roaring down the highway isn't usually an option. Be that as it may, there is a Harley Davidson shop in Zamalek and another in Mohendessin. And the one in Zamalek has a nice fussball game to play with.

This is a milk man. I have no idea where he is taking his milk but from the jars it would appear that he is bringing it fresh from the farms.
We were driving along a country road and spotted this man on a motorbike supporting many boxes of potato chips. When the motorbike started up and sped off we were astonished. How could he drive? Then we noticed the second pair of legs in front. Our motorcycle men are amazing, but not magic.
The boom in motorcycle sales has given rise to a huge increase of pretty amazing photos and also whispered prayers as we drive along.
Motorcycles are taking over Cairo. It makes some sense. They are cheap to buy and run and can weave in and out of cars that are standing still, as cars so often are here. We don't have that much wet weather either to cause a problem. So you see them everywhere and as is often the case they are decorated and modified to suit the driver. In this case the red object just in front of his face is a red plush dice. Now that would drive me nuts.
Repairmen make do with whatever space they can find. This village tire sales and repair shop mostly lives out of doors with the goods stored in a small room at night.
Okay, it isn't so good for productivity, but I suspect that the Egyptian propensity to stop to talk about almost anything is good for the soul. One man rests on a motorcycle, another squats with his back against a lamp post, and a third leans against the front of a shop. The hand gestures tell the story.
Yet another street photo from Cairo...I never tire of the bizarre behaviour of Cairenes with regard to vehicles. In this case the young men obviously didn't find a seat inside and decided to ride on the stairs. You see this quite a lot. The wonder is that they don't get scraped off on passing cars.
What can you say? Egyptians are simply some of the most ingenious drivers on this planet.
I don't spend all that much time in the car here but the odds are good that I'm going to see something bizarre and enchanting. The other day it was someone riding a motorcycle towing a friend whose motorbike wouldn't work. How do you tow a motorbike? By holding hands of course! What else?
