I think that in most cities this colour for a downtown building would be illegal...or it certainly should be. I suspect in this case that someone got a great deal on an awful colour.

I think it would look better if the surrounding buildings were colorful as well. However, the color they chose to paint the house next door (that light aqua) doesn't help things either :).

Well, it certainly stands out. And it probably comes in handy when giving directions - everyone knows where the bright red building is on that street...
