There's talk of a general strike and demonstrations tomorrow. Could be interesting downtown, but I doubt that I will see much out here in the hinterlands. Farmers have no one to strike against. These two, the donkey and the water buffalo will be working as usual, two of the true supporters of the people, with their hauling and supplying of milk, cheese, and yogurt.

Nice close shot Marianne! I believe these 2 species found each companion affectionately. I have no idea that there is water buffalo in Egypt and this cute little claf is hairier than what we have in Indonesia.

I can't believe you don't show and tell how strong is rising the Egyptian people impatience for rising prices and low salaries. You prefer to show animals and landscapes. You may be a reporter of the Egyptian fight for a better life. If you live there since 20 years you know the indolence of that people, but now something is changing. I know there is a control of blogs, but you must be a witness of the Country that adopted you. Tell me if I misunderstand.
You totally misunderstand me. This is a photo blog and that is a photo. No, it is not a photo of a mass of people pushing against each other at a bakery or of prices in a store. It is a photo of two of the animals who are a basis of the life in the countryside and without whom most farmers would not be able to work and/or feed their families at all. The problem of inflation is not restricted to Egypt. It is a worldwide issue that the use of our planet's resources in terms of food vs fuel and such is causing havoc among people worldwide.
I was pleased to see that many people did stay home on Sunday. Out here in the farms, they were working. Animals and plants don't wait for you to come to work and pick up a pen. I was not pleased to see a school damaged or cars burned. I don't think that is part of the solution. And the solution is not only in the hands of the Egyptian government, but in the hands of governments, corporations, and societies all over the world.
